In our initial articles. we have mentioned about how bad the sex ratio was in Haryana, which is actually the lowest in India. Areas like Jind, Rohtak, Sonipat and Panipatwere having lowest sex ratio in India.
In fact the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao scheme was first launched in Haryana only by honorable prime minister of India Mr. Narendra Modi. This initiative has changed the picture of sex ratio in Haryana within a couple of months.
As per recent data, the latest sex ratio is recorded as 900 per 1000 men, when it was 853 vs 1000 in 2013. This is a huge boost in a state like Haryana where situation was not at all good so far.
Sukanya Samriddhi Scheme plays a huge role to make this happen. Govt put their best effort to penetrate these schemes in every part of the country and wanted to spread awareness about the importance of a girl child in our society.
Additional Principal Secretary to Chief Minister, Haryana, Dr Rakesh Gupta said on Thursday that the program is to be implemented in all 21 districts of the state in totality. This is the dream project of Prime Minister of India and it was launched nationally at Panipat.
Besides Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana, many small scale state level schemes also contribute a lot to make this sex ratio better. Few of such girl child schemes are “Aapki Beti Hamari Beti”, Rs 100 crore Haryana Kanya Kosh and “Haryana Kuposhan Mission” .
Dr Gupta said that institutional deliveries coverage of Haryana is 88.6 per cent with the Mewat 40.5 % and Palwal 66.7 % are low performing.
The Postal Department has opened more than 43 lakh Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana (girl child prosperity scheme) accounts in the country and mobilised investments worth `2,600 crore in less than four months, Secretary, Posts, Kaveri Banerjee said at the two-day conference of heads of Circles of post offices in Gurgaon.
She also mentioned that all the 1,55,000 post offices across the country will be digitized & will be connected through a single network to make the Sukanya Samriddhi Account opening process more successful.
