Maharashtra Govt. has launched a special scheme for the benefit of girl child, Bhagyashree Scheme.
This scheme is mainly launched for the people under below poverty line (BPL).
Govt. of India has launched Sukanya Samriddhi Scheme for the higher education and marriage of the girl child under “Beti Bachao Beti Padao” campaign.
Maharastra Govt. has lanuched this Bhagyashree Scheme with few extra benefits. Even they are going to replace Sukanya Samriddhi scheme with new Bhagyashree Scheme. But as per the words of Women and Child Welfare Minister Pankaja Munde,
“The launch does not mean we have scrapped Sukanya scheme. We have merely redesigned it”.
Key Highlights of Bhagyashree Scheme
Bhagyashree Scheme will mainly drive for the poor people, means everybody can not open this account like Sukanya Samriddhi Account. The most attractive feature of this scheme is, Govt. will contribute Rs 21,200 in the name of the girl child of a BPL family. This amount will grow as Rs 1,00,000 at the age of 18 of the girl child.
This scheme is launched by Devendra Fadnavis, chief minister of Maharashtra along with actress Bhagyashree. She is also the brand ambassador of this scheme. Govt. is also planning to link this scheme with Beti Bachao Beti Padhao in coming days. This will give further boost to this Bhagyashree Scheme.
