Government of India is doing a massive promotion on Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY) & Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY). On the eve of launching these social security schemes, govt. is promoting both the schemes in most of the major newspapers, both in print & electronic versions.
PMJJBY & PMSBY will be launched on 9th of May by our respected prime minister, Mr. Narendra Modi in Kolkata. Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana is a low premium life insurance scheme, whereas Suraksha Bima Yojana is a low cost accident cover insurance.
Both of these schemes provides an insurance cover of Rs. 2 lakhs in a very low premium amount. Below is the ad which was put in today’s newspapers.

Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY)
The policy holder will get a life insurance cover of Rs. 2 lakhs in case of both natural & accidental death. The premium amount is Rs. 330 per annum, which is actually less than Rs. 1 per day. Age limit is 18 years – 50 years provided they have a bank account. In case of any unfortunate death of the insurer, the family will get the coverage amount. You can read the complete details here.
Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY)
This scheme on accident insurance cover gives a coverage of Rs. 2 lakhs at Rs. 1 per month i.e. Rs 12 per annum. Age limit for PMSBY is 18 to 70 years. This insurance scheme covers partial & permanent disablement due to any accident. You can read the complete details here.
- The annual insurance period is from 1st June to 31st May.
- The amount will be directly auto-debited from the subscriber’s account.
- One person can join the scheme through only one bank account.
We can hope that, soon we will see similar promotion on the 3rd social security scheme Atal Pension Yojana (APY) also.
