How old the girl child needs to be to open an account under Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana? As per SSA rules it is 0 to 10 years. The clause literally kept its meaning when an account was opened in the name of a 10 minute old baby in Agra. With this, “Ankita Devi Kashyap” became the youngest Sukanya Samriddhi Account holder & Agra Postal Department made a record.
Chief Medical Superintendent of Lady Lyall Hospital, Dr. Veena Saxena confirmed that, the girl child was born in the Lady Lyall hospital in Agra at around 2.15 pm. At the same time during a day camp, the father of the girl child contacted the officials and requested to open an account for his newly-born daughter. Sarvan Kumar Kashyap is a resident of Gokul Nagar, Nariach locality of Agra.
The baby’s father also said that, “I’ll ensure that my daughter has a bright future.”
So on Wednesday around 2.25 pm, an account was opened in the name of Ankita. The account was opened in the Medical College branch of the Post Office, Agra in the day camp organized by the postal department. According to Mr. Vinod Kumar, Director of Postal Department of Agra, the account was opened in the Lady Lyall Hospital for the beneficiary of the girl child. As per his word’s,
“Ankita is the youngest girl to have her account opened under SSY scheme. An awareness camp was organized at the district women’s hospital to publicize benefits of the scheme among people. It was then that the baby’s father Sarvan Kumar Kashyap requested officials at the camp to open his newly-born daughter’s account.”
According to news18.com, he also confirmed that people of Agra are receiving Sukanya Samriddhi Account New Saving Scheme for girl child with great enthusiasm. Within three months of its launch, General post office (GPO) of Agra has opened more than 69,000 accounts, which is the highest across Uttar Pradesh.
